Jenny Taylor (Amanda Bynes) is ecstatic when she finds out that her favorite rock star, Jason Masters (Chris Carmack), is a guest at the resort where she is working for the summer.
Jason gets thrown off the cruise and with the rough waters, Jenny knows that he will not survive. She dives in with an inflatable raft and attempts to save his life. They end up marooned on a desert island while cruising on a ship one night after a thunderstorm. Delirious about having him all to herself, Jenny hides the fact that they are just a stone's throw away from the resort.
But when Jenny's rival, Alexis Minnetti (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) pretends to be shipwrecked as well and Jenny's plan starts to blow up in her face, it is up to her best friend Ryan (Jonathan Bennett) to pick up the pieces.
When Ryan hears that a hurricane is hitting the island where Jenny and he are staying, he goes out and tries to find her. They end up in a cave, which protects them from the hurricane.
The next day, when Ryan and Jenny are back at the hotel, a mob of reporters come to Jason and ask him how he survived. He lies to make himself look good, and Jenny goes along with it. Jason and Alexis marry, after Jenny says that it was them who were "stranded" not Jason and herself. Jenny and Ryan get back together, and the film ends with them dancing on the beach in the sunset.
